I am currently a Visiting Scholar at the Center for European and Mediterranean Studies at New York University. I received my Ph.D. in Government from Harvard University in 2013 and worked as a Lecturer in Government at Harvard during the 2013/14 Academic Year.

My specific research interests lie in pursuing an interdisciplinary analysis of the international, political, and economic dynamics affecting immigrant and minority integration, primarily with respect to flows from the Middle East/North Africa to the United States and Western Europe. I have worked on a number of projects examining the presence of Islam in Western Europe, the influence of remittances on integration, immigrant inequality vis-à-vis comparative welfare states, and minority political violence and ethnic conflict.  My dissertation When Cities Fight Back: Minorities, Local Politics and Conflict, was the recipient of the Ernst B. Haas Best Dissertation Award from APSA's European Politics and Society Organized Section in 2014. My current book project examines the conditions under which religious or ethnic minorities engage in violent conflict as a means of political expression in France, the UK, Netherlands and the United States. 

Originally, I hail from Los Angeles, California and did my undergraduate work in Political Science at UC Berkeley. In addition to my interest in politics, I enjoy traveling and have already visited many countries in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. My most recent adventure took me to Easter Island and hiking the Torres del Paine in Chile.
