Biography

Hi! My name is Austin, and I am honored to serve as a Peer Concentration Counselor with the Government Department this year! I hail from a small town in Western Massachusetts, but I call the Quad home on campus. I am a senior studying American Politics with a focus on racial justice in educational institutions. While I explored a myriad of concentrations here at Harvard, the Government department best satisfied my desire to explore the politics and policies behind education reform in the United States. The department has proven accommodating and the courses have been as engaging as they are enriching. Outside of the classroom, I currently serve as Vice President of Harvard’s Institute of Politics, Student Representative on the FAS Standing Committee for Public Service, and a Peer Advising Fellow. Off-campus, I’ve pursued my passion for social justice as a grassroots organizer for a gubernatorial campaign, an intern for a national education non-profit, and an EFL teacher abroad. I’d be more than happy to share more about my experiences within the department and beyond, and I look forward to welcoming prospective concentrators!
