New working paper on a randomized trial to reduce summer melt among college-intending low-income high school graduates

February 14, 2012

Along with my co-authors, Lindsay Page and Korynn Schooley, I examine the impact of offering additional college counseling the summer after high school gradation on whether low-income high school graduates enroll in college. We find that offering students 2 – 3 hours of support during the summer months increases on-time enrollment rates by four - eight percentage points, depending on student sub-group, at a cost of only $100 - $200 per student.
