  (Le théâtre représente un lieu rempli de mausolées élevés à la gloire des plus fameux guerriers qui ont péris dans la guerre que les Phrygiens font à Dardanus.) (The scene is a place filled with mausoleums raised to the glory of the most famous warriors who have perished in the wars waged by the Phrygians against Dardanus.)

Iphise monologue [da capo aria] (in G minor, with expressive modulations and dissonances within the key that reflect the strength of her inner conflict over forbidden love.  These emotions are reinforced within the scene in a subsequent accompanied recitative, in Bb major, followed by final confirmation in simple recitative, ending in G minor, but creating a more flexible structure than the typical monologue aria scene.)  (Section A) (Section A)
Cesse, cruel Amour, de régner sur mon âme ; Cease, cruel Love, to reign over my soul,
Ou choisis d’autres traits pour te rendre vainqueur. Or choose some other darts to become conqueror.

Où m’entraîne une aveugle ardeur ? Where am I being drawn by a blind ardor?
Un ennemi fatal est l’objet de ma flamme ; A fatal enemy is the object of my passion;
