Visit the SMRblog: new technologies and scholarly research in the age of immediacy

May 9, 2011

Sociological Methods & Research, a Sage Publication, is a scholarly methodology journal that has been edited by Christopher Winship since 1995. The journal is highly ranked according to Thompson-Reuters Journal Citation Reports (#4 among top sociology journals according to the 5-year impact measurement in 2010, just behind ARSAJS and ASR; #5 among social science methods journals in 2010). However there has been in general a lack of opportunity for scholarly exchange on publication content until recently introduced technologies have made it possible for scholars to comment, reply, ask questions and interact with authors directly (see video of Chris' presentation Scholarship in the Age of Immediacy for more on what has become a very topical issue). The SMRblog was launched in part to provide a platform for the journal's community to access and interact with its content, and as a source for replications, electronic data and other forms of content, not conducive to, or too immediate for, print media. Check out the SMRblog, and get updates via twitter or RSS.
