I am an Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a core faculty member of the UMass Computational Social Science Institute.
My research areas are labor economics, the economics of science and innovation, international development and economic history.
I work on topics related to how individuals acquire and use their skills, particularly on science and innovation, immigration, and gender issues. Much of my work is focused on the behavior of high-skilled "knowledge" workers - scientists and engineers.
I am also an Affiliated Researcher at the Stockholm Institute of Transition Economics (SITE) at the Stockholm School of Economics and a fellow of the Center for International Development (CID) and the Institute for Quantitative Social Sciences (IQSS) at Harvard University.
