About me

 

 

Katrina Ortblad is a third year doctoral student in the Population and Family Health.  Her research focuses on HIV prevention interventions. Currently she is a co-investigator on two randomized controlled trials evaluating the benefits of oral HIV self-testing among female sex workers in Zambia and Uganda and also does research on the impact of voluntary medical male circumcision in South Africa under Dr. Joshua Salomon and Dr. Till Barnighausen. 

Prior to Harvard, Katrina led the HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis mortality, incidence, and prevalence estimates for the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) study at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) under Dr. Christopher JL Murray. She has a Masters in Public Health from the University of Washington and a Bachelor of Arts in human biology from Dartmouth College.
