Acquisition of Chuj

In 2011 I was awarded an NEH-NSF Documenting Endangered Languages Fellowship (FN-50094-11): Acquisition of an Endangered Mayan Language: A Corpus of Child Chuj (PI Maria Polinsky) to document the acquisition of Chuj of San Mateo Ixtatán, Huehuetenango, Guatemala. The project aims to study the acquisition of verb morphology in Chuj, extending my own work on the acquisition of Q’anjob’al.

In this project I am working with two native speakers of Chuj and in collaboration with the Comunidad Lingüística Chuj of the Academia de las Lenguas Mayas de Guatemala.
