Michael is a PhD student in the Government Department at Harvard University working on the history of political thought and comparative public law. In particular, his research focuses on the history and theory of constitutionalism, 20th Century Western European constitutional politics, and the theory and practice of parliamentarism and political representation. 

He is currently working on two related projects: an intellectual history of parliamentary sovereignty and the relationship of parliamentarism and constitutionalism, and a study of the French political and constitutional crisis of 1958. 

He holds a BA in Philosophy from The University of Chicago, an MPhil in Political and Legal Philosophy from the Université de Paris - Panthéon Sorbonne, and an MPhil in Political History and Political Theory from the Institut d'Études Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po).
