Dr. Hu eventually received his PhD in applied physics from Harvard in 2012, and is now starting a company (SolidEnergy Systems) to commercialize a battery technology developed during his doctoral work. This battery technology has much higher energy density and wider temperature range than conventional lithium-ion batteries, potentially speeds up the adoption of electric vehicles and reduces global CO2 emission.
