Daniel Schatz is a Visiting Fellow at the Program on Transatlantic Relations at Harvard University’s Weatherhead Center for International Affairs. He is a Doctoral Candidate in Political Science at the Humboldt University in Berlin and a non-resident Visiting Scholar at the Europe Forum of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
Schatz research focuses on the dynamics of foreign policy change. His research interests range from international relations, foreign policy analysis, political psychology to European and Middle Eastern politics.
Prior to joining Harvard University, Schatz was a Visiting Anna Lindh Fellow at the Europe Center of the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies at Stanford University. A specialist in government relations and international affairs, Schatz’s professional appointments include positions at the European Parliament, the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly, the UN Secretariat, the UN Alliance of Civilizations, the World Jewish Congress Headquarters and the Canadian Embassy in Sweden.
Apart from his academic and professional pursuits, Schatz’s has been involved in practical policy work. He has held numerous positions in the governing Swedish Liberal Party and was nominated as a Candidate for Parliament. Schatz has been an editorial page contributor in Svenska Dagbladet, one of Sweden’s largest and most influential dailies. His articles and opinion pieces on contemporary international affairs have appeared in leading European and international newspapers.
Schatz graduated with a Masters Degree in Political Science and European Studies from the University of Lund and completed studies in International Relations at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and New York University. He speaks Swedish, English, Polish, German, Hebrew and Russian.
