Biographical information for Katie L. Vale

Dr. Katie Vale is an experienced educator, IT director and academic administrator at Harvard University. She currently serves as Director of Digital Learning, designing Harvard's first blended professional degree program for the School of Public Health. Prior to this she served as interim HUIT Managing Director of Academic Technology and Director of Faculty of Arts and Sciences Academic Technology. 

Dr. Vale has played a key part in some of the most influential educational technology projects of the past few decades. At Brown University she worked on a pre-web hypertext system called Intermedia; at MIT she supported Project Athena and helped start TEAL and MIT Open CourseWare; and at Harvard she helped design and launch HarvardX and the Harvard Initiative on Learning and Teaching.   Dr. Vale is the recipient of the 2014 Educause Rising Star Award.
