Biographical Note

Vincent Cervantes is a graduate student at Harvard Divinity School, focusing on Religions of the Americas. His work explores the intersectionality of religion, theology, race, gender, and sexuality in Latin American and Latino literary and cultural arts.

His research and writing focuses on Latin American and Latino/a religions and theologies, queer identities and performance, religion and literature, the role of religion and sexuality in colonialism and postcolonialism, and comparative liberation theologies. He is currently working on two book-length projects. The first critically examines the relationship between the "ex-gay" movement alongside deliverance and spiritual warfare Chrisitanity. The second explores ways of reconceptualizing sex and sexuality as as site of queer resistance and space.
