Thank you for visiting my website!

I am a demographer, and currently a David E. Bell Fellow at the Harvard Center for Population and Development Studies. I have a PhD in Demography and Sociology from the University of Pennsylvania. My CV is available here.

My research focuses on empirical measurement of mortality, as well as social and environmental determinants of health. It uses both demographic and field methods. You can access it here. My work has received support from the the Civil Registration and Vital Statistics Fellowship of the International Union for the Scientific Study of Population and the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship (at Oxford University) of the European Commission. I am a joint recipient, with Sangita Vyas and Payal Hathi, of the 2021 Dorothy Thomas Award awarded by the Population Association of America.

Below is a photo from rural Mymensingh, Bangladesh. A teddy bear dries in the sun, after a shower, suspended with a string tied to its ear. Without it, this page was a bit bland.
