About

I have worked in academic libraries for over 20 years, mostly in reference roles.  After 5 years at the University of Illinois at Chicago, I came to the Harvard Library in 2000. I have worked in the Cabot Science Library and the Grossman Library for Harvard Extension, and am currently working in Widener.

Outside of the library, I am a historian of science with research interests in the modern physical sciences, classification, nomenclature, and international organizations.  My research to-date has focused on the periodic table, the discovery and naming of the superheavy elements, and the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry. I have held fellowships at the Consortium for History of Science, Technology and Medicine and the Science History Institute. Currently I am the chair of the Physical Sciences Forum of the History of Science Society.

I have a BA in History from UC San Diego, an MLIS and a Post-Master's Certificate in Digital Archives & Records Management from San Jose State University, an ALM in the History of Science from the Harvard Extension School, and a PhD in History from UMass Amherst.
