I am working on a book manuscript that explores why and how high-tech manufacture is a transnationalized process in some sectors, but remains fragmented by state boundaries in others.  I examine this general question through a study of China-U.S. trade and industrial collaboration in two strategic, dual-use high-tech sectors: civil-commercial aircraft manufacture and civil-commercial spacecraft manufacture.

I also conduct research on the development and building of large-scale, technology-intensive infrastructural complexes in China, such as the Beidou satellite navigation system and its applications, and other issues at the intersection of technology and politics.

I share my research with professionals in policy and industry and other interested publics beyond the academy as much as possible, through publications, presentations, and testimony.
