I am presently working on molecular phylogeny and biogeography of the Phalangioidea harvestmen species of Opiliones, Arachnida. I am a post doc at the Giribet lab at Harvard University and a research fellow of the Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amazônia (INPA) in Manaus, Brazil. My broader research involves evolution and ecology of arachnids: systematics, sampling design, community ecology and conservation. I am interested in using molecular data to address questions involving those topics.
I use arachnids as models to test new methodologies to be applied in ecological and evolutionary studies supporting the conservation of biodiversity and the Amazon tropical forests. I believe we can improve sampling methodology and design to achieve more efficient results that can be used together with molecular data to better address both ecological and evolutionary questions.
