Important Health Education Tips of 2021

Health is wealth. Sound health is the ultimate target of every human being. Every year, we lost our near and dear ones due to the lack of health education. We see deadly viruses like coronavirus last year, and who knows what is coming next. It is time to give focus on both our physical and mental health. Otherwise, surviving these tough times will be challenging. Today, we will discuss some essential health tips that you can follow.

Health and exercise are two interrelated things. At least, an exercise session of 10 minutes is necessary for everyone. No matter how busy you are or how exhausted you feel, you have to do it regularly. Your focus should be on the workouts you like. You have to do it for workout purposes, not for the sake of calorie burning. The most straightforward exercises like cycling and walking can reduce stress and cognitive decline significantly. If you can do muscle-strengthening activities sometimes, that will be a great addition.  It will surely improve your heart’s health, sleeping hours, and overall quality of life.

You know there is no alternative to a healthy diet. Foods are essential for both the body and the mind. There is nothing more beautiful than a diet plan full of vegetables, whole grains, fish, fruits, beans, turmeric water, and a minimum of red and processed meats. They can dramatically decrease the risk of dementia, heart diseases, stroke, and so on. Nowadays, you will find varieties of diets like the Mediterranean diet, keto diet, Atkins diet, detox diet, etc. All you have to do is choose a diet according to your goal. Besides, you can quit smoking, alcohol, and sugary drinks, which will help you in the long run.

Sleep helps us to recover and repair from the day. Rest gives us the energy to be ready for tomorrow, so you cannot take it lightly. For a peaceful sleep, you may change your bedtime routine and create a comfortable sleep environment. Insomnia or sleep apnea may develop problems in thinking and memory. If you are suffering from any of these, you can follow a straightforward rule, i.e., to avoid phones or Tv at the time of sleeping. Another thing is you can stop taking caffeine or alcohol before bedtime.

You have to control your blood pressure all the time. Sodium intake or high salt can increase blood pressure, and that can cause a heart attack or stroke. Regardless of age, anyone can face it if blood pressure is not under control. You know that high blood pressure is a silent killer, as most people are not aware of this. The American Heart Association recommends limiting 1500mg sodium intake per day for people with high BP.

On the other hand, you can donate blood three times a year if you feel healthy. You know one blood donation can save up to three lives. You can make it a hobby as it feels great to donate blood. However, it has many benefits for your health too. Regular blood donating can reduce the risk of cancer, pancreas, etc.

Now, simply maintaining hygiene can save us from several diseases. We see washing hands at regular intervals and wearing masks everywhere can decrease the spread of coronavirus. So, it does not matter whether our hands are visibly dirty or not; we have to wash them using soap. We have to be careful even if we are clapping our hands for someone’s birthday. Thus, we can be safe from bacteria, viruses, and other harmful substances.

Till now, we have only talked about physical health. However, mental health is a vital part of physical health, and you should give equal priority to both. It is essential to seek medical treatment if you feel mentally ill.

Some simple hacks can bring peace to your mind. At first, you can read books, perform yoga or do meditation before sleeping. I will prefer one hour of these activities and then 8 hours of sleep to a straight 9 hours of sleep. Similarly, you should try at least one meal per day without having any distractions. A distraction-free meal is way better than a meal taken with distractions.

Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, we spent enormous time on zoom and other similar platforms. Zoom classes, zoom game nights, zoom meetups, zoom webinars, and all our outdoor activities become zoom-centric. It is a great way to communicate, I admit, yet this is a reason for feeling fatigued. So, you can do some old-fashioned tasks to give yourself a break like calling over the regular phone, sending postcards, letters or small care packages, etc. Besides, you can consider joining a voluntary organization to spend time for a great cause. This way, you will meet some new people with similar interests as well.

Nowadays, balancing between work and life is a tough job. Many people quit their high salaried job as they cannot manage time for themselves or their family. If you feel anxiety and stress often, that means you lack the work-life balance. You have to remember that this balancing process is a moving target, and there is no fixed rule for this. You have to reevaluate it from time to time to meet the changes in responsibilities and goals.

Above all, regular consultation with a doctor is a must. You cannot ignore it whether you are healthy or ill. They will do regular body checkups, including blood pressure, diabetics screenings, cholesterol, and so on. Thus, you will be able to know earlier if there is something wrong with your body. Similarly, you might have to play the role of a doctor sometimes. So, you should learn some emergency life skills like cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), stopping bleeding in dire situations, setting a splint, etc.

Finally, a life without anxiety and stress is an unrealistic life. These things will come again and again, but you have to manage them calmly. You have to give yourself time when you feel overwhelmed. Thus, you can lead a healthy life.
