I am a 5th year PhD candidate in economics at Harvard University and a research affiliate at Evidence for Policy Design, the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs and the Institute for Quantitative Social Science
My research interests are at the intersection of development economics, public finance and political economy. My primary research focuses on how to increase tax revenue in states with low capacity. A second area of research explores how efforts to build state capacity, such as tax collection and land titling, shape citizens’ engagement with the government. Finally, a last area of research explores the long-run determinants of in-group preferences (e.g. family and ethnic bias) and moral values. My current field work is based in the D.R. Congo.
