Dr. Bing Wang, Associate Professor in Practice of Real Estate and the Built Environment at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design (GSD). She is a faculty co-chair for Real Estate Management: Finance, Design, and Leadership program, a joint program between the Harvard GSD and Harvard Business School, and a faculty co-chair for the Advanced Management Development Program (AMDP) in real estate at the GSD. She has been a visiting faculty member at the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom and lectures frequently at top-tier universities worldwide, including Tsinghua University in China and University of Ulster in the UK.

Her academic research focuses on the interplays between formal representations of the built environment and its underlying capital forces, social structure and economic engines. She is on the Editorial Boards of the Journal of Planning Theory and Practice (UK), Journal of Sustainable Real Estate (USA), The Encyclopedia of Ecological Culture (China), and the editorial advisory board of The German Journal of Real Estate Research (Germany). Her writings and research are published in academic books and journals, including Planning Ideas and Planning PracticesProfessionalism and ProfessionsUrbanization in ChinaRegenerating Older SuburbsJournal of Real Estate Portfolio Management and Urban Land Asia. Her books include The Architectural Profession of Modern China (2011); Understanding China’s Real Estate Markets: Development, Finance, and Investment (2021);  Prestige Retail: Design and Development (2014); Global Leadership in Real Estate and Design (2015) and Nexus: Field Studies in Real Estate, Planning, and Design (2005).

Dr. Wang bridges the fields of real estate and design. Her academic research and pedagogical focus are reinforced by her multi-disciplinary professional practice. She worked on Wall Street as an investment specialist before founding her own real estate investment management firms with Citigroup, Starwood Capital, Cargill, and Rockpoint as investors and institutional shareholders. Wang acts as an investment advisor and developer for multinational companies in the USA, China, Japan, Saudi Arabia, and Singapore. Her design firm, HyperBina Design Group, has undertaken projects of both architectural and urban scales. Through her companies and partnerships, Dr. Wang and her team had master-planned 980 acres of land, designed 6.7 million sq. ft. of space for communities, and invested US$1.1 billion in urban real estate assets and transactions. 

Dr. Wang's research manuscripts on micro-housing in the US and residence-oriented resort developments in China won Best Manuscripts Awards by the American Real Estate Societies in 2016 and 2018. Dr. Wang is an elected Board Director of American Real Estate Society, a Steering Committee Member of Harvard China Fund, an invited member of the National Committee on US-China Relations, a Board Advisor of Los Angeles Chinese Chamber of Commerce, and a Board Governor and Chair of the Academic Committee at The School of Architecture by Frank Lloyd Wright.
