Brandon Van Dyck is an assistant professor of Government and Law at Lafayette College. He specializes in the study of political parties and political regimes, with a regional focus on Latin America. He is author of Democracy Against Parties: The Divergent Fates of Latin America's New Left Contenders (forthcoming) and co-editor of Challenges of Party Building in Latin America (2016). His articles have appeared in Comparative Politics, Latin American Research Review, Latin American Politics and Society, and Journal of Latin American Studies. Outside academia, he has written pieces for the Mexico-based Foreign Affairs Latinoamérica and the Brazil-based Exame.
