Fieldwork has been an essential component of my doctoral and post-doctoral research. It most often involves the capture and collection of amphibians and their associated data. Photographs are taken to document their coloration in life, tissue samples are collected for DNA analysis, calling males are recorded and notes are taken regarding habitat and ecology. More recent work has also involved swabbing their skin so we can test for chytrid, a fungus that is infecting amphibians worldwide.
