This course will explore various forms of Native North American cultural and political production in the twentieth century. Drawing on fiction, film, historical documents, documentaries, photographs, nonfiction, and memoirs, this class will explore the ways in which Indigenous people have articulated both belonging and separateness from the United States and Canada. EMR 125: Indigenous Worldviews: Critical Issues in Native North America

This course explores Indigenous perspectives on major topics and issues affecting Native North America. Through a deep engagement with Indigenous-authored works, students will explore Native viewpoints on issues ranging from settler colonialism & decolonization to feminism & gender equality. The course ultimately seeks to familiarize students with the major intellectual arguments and themes within the field of Native American & Indigenous Studies.
