Health risks from chemicals used in food packaging

Everday we ingest chemicals that have leached from packaging into the food we eat. Many of these chemicals, such as perfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs), have been associated with adverse health effects, such as immunologic and reproductive damages. Before joining the Biogeochemistry of Global Pollutants Group, I worked as a cientific Editor for the Food Packaging Forum in Zurich, Switzerland, where I published daily online news on recent scientifc discoveries related to health risks of chemicals leaching from food packaging. The annual workshop that I organized for the Food Packaging Forum attracted regulators and scientists from all over Europe.
