Welcome to my website! I’m happy to have this chance to say a bit about my scholarship and teaching. At the moment, I’m particularly interested in three things: the US Civil War and Reconstruction; trans-Atlantic literary relations; and the novel.

I'm also pleased to announce that two of the students who took my seminar on book reviewing have published reviews at Public Books. Take a look at Tess McNulty's "Chick Lit Meets the Avant-Garde," and Cecelia Mancuso's "Speculative Pulp Fiction." Both are really great!
