Biography

Curriculum Vitae

I am a Lecturer in Political Science and Director of the M.A. program in the Department of Political Science at Columbia University.

I earned my PhD from the Department of Government (GSAS) at Harvard University, affiliated with the Institute for Quantitative Social Sciences (IQSS). After completing my doctoral work, I was awarded the position of College Fellow in the Department of Government at Harvard University.

I work on political behavior, specifically protest voting, and immigrants' political attitudes, in Southern Europe, Latin America, and Israel. Methodologically, I draw from diverse theoretical traditions, ranging from contemporary political theory to political economy, to generate testable implications, which I then investigate with rigorous empirical tools. My recent work has been published in the Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies, Party Politics, Electoral Studies, Democratization, Political Studies, and Latin American Politics and Society.

I grew up in Italy, in a beautiful small town called Cremona, the world capital of violin making. After leaving Italy, I lived, worked, and studied across Southern Europe, Latin America, Israel, and the United States. In my spare time, I have a passion for yoga, which I have been practicing for over 10 years, running, swimming, photography (see front page), and figure drawing.
