Teaching and Mentoring

Teaching of medical students, sonography students, residents and fellows is incorporated into the clinical workday and I am proud to have served as mentor for more than 40 trainees who have produced over 70 published manuscripts, with the trainee as first author in 45 manuscripts and myself as the primary mentor.  I also have mentored 10 junior faculty to be first author on 24 publications.  Half of my fellows have continued on in academic medicine, usually with initial appointments in our department.  Other teaching pursuits include creation of a first year ultrasound scanning rotation to document competence prior to taking call; creation of weekly Radiology Grand Rounds at BIDMC Radiology; being thesis advisor for two Harvard medical students (one of whom received Magna Cum Laude and one of whom received Cum Laude for her thesis) and mentoring junior faculty in academic pursuits.
