Katie Marks successfully defended her PhD dissertation, "Toward Improved Assessment of Vocal Effort During Activities of Daily Living!"
Katie’s passion is in assessing and alleviating the excessive vocal effort experienced by patients suffering with voice disorders. I am very proud of Katie as she has steered multiple ships at the MGH Voice Center, including leading studies funded by my first independent grant from the NIH (ECR R21) and contributing critically to our large P50 grant on many levels (http://massgeneral.com/vhcrc). I will always be indebted to her. Katie cares deeply about cultivating the next generation of clinicians and always seeks opportunities to pay it forward. I know that Katie’s commitment to scientific rigor and teamwork position her for a successful future in clinical research as a leader of our next generation of clinician-scientists.
We were fortunate to have her return back to IHP after her clinical training at Lakeshore Medical Center and wish her well in the future as a postdoctoral fellow at Boston University in the STEPP lab!
