Ioanna Fampiou

Ioanna is an instructor at Villanova University. She was a post-doctoral fellow at Harvard University under the direction of Prof. Efthimios Kaxiras. She joined the group in 2016.

She received her PhD in Mechanical Engineering in 2014 from University of Massachusetts Amherst and her undergraduate Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2008 from the National Technical University of Athens. Her doctoral thesis focused on investigating the electronic and catalytic properties of platinum nanoclusters on defective graphene using computational modeling techniques. She is currently working on computational catalysis using density functional theory and kinetic Monte Carlo simulations. She is also investigating the electronic properties of 2D graphene-MoS2 heterostructures.
