Gokhan is a PhD student and his research is focused on theoretical heterogeneous catalysis of metal and metal oxides, as well as the properties of two dimensional system such as graphene. Other ongoing projects are the study of the role of promoters in the water gas-shift reaction, the use of  carbides as possible new efficient catalysts, and the study of the transitional metal carbides and  clusters. All these projects are carried out by using plane-wave DFT with open-source and  commercial software.
