A postdoc position is currently available in the EEG/MEG group of Dr. Eleonora Tamilia at Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH), Harvard Medical School. The selected postdoc fellow will work under the supervision of Dr. Tamilia in the Fetal-Neonatal Neuroimaging Developmental Science Center (FNNDSC) of BCH, which is a multidisciplinary science center made up of researchers from the fields of medicine, engineering, computer science, and neuroscience.

Dr. Tamilia’s group is dedicated to advancing epilepsy neurophysiology research with particular focus on the development of novel analytical methods to augment our understanding of the human epileptic brain and improve treatments. We utilize multimodal imaging including electroencephalography (EEG), magnetoencephalography (MEG) along with structural MRI.

We seek an exceptional individual with training in EEG data analysis to join a newly funded project for the development of new methods to study the EEG of children with drug-resistant epilepsy and the underlying epileptogenic brain network, with the ultimate goal of helping surgical planning. The selected fellow will be mainly responsible for (i) the analysis of intracranial and scalp EEG data from children with epilepsy, before and after neurosurgery, (ii) developing novel data analysis pipelines to estimate underlying epileptogenicity, and (iii) applying statistics and machine-learning techniques to identify the epileptogenic brain tissue and predict post-surgical outcome.

Previous experience with EEG data analysis and signal processing is required along with good programming skills (i.e. proficiency in MATLAB). The applicant must be also skilled in data manipulation, and motivated to develop novel methods. Familiarity with and skills in multimodal imaging, source localization, or other analytic methods (such as functional connectivity) applied to epilepsy are desired, as well as familiarity with applied statistics and machine-learning techniques. Training in EEG reading for epilepsy and familiarity with MRI is preferable, but not an absolute requirement.

The postdoctoral position appointment is for one year with a potential for renewal pending funding and satisfactory performance.
