I am an Instructor in the Department of Anesthesia, Critical Care, and Pain Medicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital and the Harvard Medical School, and a member of the Neuroscience and Statistics Research Laboratory founded by Prof. Emery Brown.
I am primarily interested on how the pharmacological actions of anesthetic, sedative, and analgesic drugs alter the internal dynamics of the brain and affect perception and behavior. A complete list of my publications can be found here.
I hold a B.Sc. in Biochemistry and a Professional Title of Biochemist from the University of Santiago de Chile. In my undergraduate thesis work, conducted under the direction of Prof. Alejandro Hernandez, I performed research on brain and spinal mechanisms of drug actions.
I also hold a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Chile. In my graduate thesis work, conducted under the direction of Prof. Pedro Maldonado, I performed research on the finer details of perception, brain neurophysiology, and animal behavior.
