New paper published on laser processing of silicon

A new paper on laser processing of silicon has been published in the Journal of Applied Physics.  The work, done with collaborators at Harvard and MIT, discusses the origin of pressure-induced phase transformations observed after femtosecond laser irradiation.  The paper can is available here or downloadable from the publications page.

Ben presented a poster at the Gordon Research Conference Science and Technology Policy Seminar held August 4-5 in New Hampshire.  His presentation discussed technological roadmaps for cost-competitive solar energy.

SPIE Optics+Photonics

Ben presented his recent work on laser processing of photovoltaic materials as part of an invited talk at SPIE Optics+Photonics, August 12-16, in San Diego, California.  The presentation discussed the use of ultrafast lasers to texture and hyperdope semiconductors and metals for solar harvesting.

Black Silicon Symposium

Ben attended the 2012 Black Silicon Symposium in Albany, NY, August 9-10.  The conference brings together black silicon specialists from around the country and is organized by the US Army.

Ben presented a paper at SPIE Photonics West in San Francisco, January 21-26, 2012.  His poster discussed the use of hyperdoped silicon for photovoltaics.
