Biographical Information

Hillard T. Spencer, M.D., graduated from the Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons in New York and completed his postgraduate residency training in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of California, Los Angeles.  He completed additional subspecialty fellowship training in Boston in Pediatric Orthopaedics and Spine Surgery at the Children's Hospital Boston, including Fellowship Grant support from the Orthopaedic Research & Education Foundation and the Children's Orthopaedic Surgery Foundation.  He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.

Dr. Spencer's research interests include the etiology and treatment of pediatric spinal deformity, scoliosis surgery, spondylolisthesis, biomechanical analysis of fracture configurations, management and complications of pediatric trauma, musculoskeletal diseases of childhood such as hip dysplasia, periacetabular osteotomy, and development of models for complex spinal deformity.  He has published peer-reviewed papers in the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, the Bone and Joint Journal, Spine Deformity, Journal of Pediatric Orthopaedics, Arthroscopy, The Spine Journal, Journal of Hand Surgery, Journal of Children's Orthopaedics, Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma, and Instructional Course Lectures.  He has authored and co-authored abstracts at national and international meetings.

Dr. Spencer has collaborated with physicians and investigators across multiple institutions and subspecialties in clinical care, publishing, and research.
