Junchao Tang is currently a second-year M.A. student in Regional Studies East Asia Program at Harvard University. Growing up in Shanghai, China, he received his B.A and M.A in Sociology from Fudan University in 2015 and 2018 respectively. His research interest lies in the intersection of stratification, political sociology, and inequality. During his graduate studies, he plans to investigate how class consciousness arises through the life course, and how class dynamics contribute to the reproduction of inequality under authoritarianism using China as a case.
Junchao's work has appeared in Sociological Studies, China Studies and The Journal of Chinese Sociology.
A proud supporter for Real Madrid, Junchao also enjoys watching La Liga and European Championship League. Discussion about anime or video games is also welcome, as long as he is not getting lost in sociological readings.
