Joshua Ehrlich is a historian of knowledge and political thought in, around, and between Europe and South Asia. Currently a PhD candidate in History at Harvard University, he has been associated with the South Asia Institute and the Minda de Gunzburg Center for European Studies. He holds a BA from the University of Chicago and an AM from Harvard, both in History. His dissertation, "The East India Company and the Politics of Knowledge," traces the ideological uses of knowledge in the political world of the Company from the 1770s to the 1830s.
