I am interested in patterns of molecular genetic diversity that are shaped by natural selection. My current work, with Dan Neafsey and Manoj Duraisingh, concerns genomics of hosts and parasites impacting infection and transmission of malaria. Other major research projects of mine have included:

Antimicrobial peptide evolution in leopard frogs

Genomic scans for local adaptation in human populations

Genetic basis of trematode parasite resistance in snails

Evolution of sex determination and ploidy in strawberries

Collaborative studies of steelhead, salamanders, pines, lizards, hookworms, and more
