Kiku Adatto and her husand Michael Sandel have initiated an international storytelling, reading, and civic education project, The Babayan Story Project. It encourages children to use storytelling to discover and transform the world. Designed for children between the ages of five and twelve, the project aims to: ignite children’s moral and artistic imaginations; engage children in ethical reasoning and civic discourse; connect oral storytelling, writing, and reading; strengthen the bonds between home and school; and share art and ideas locally and globally. The illustrated chapter book Babayan and the Magic Star and the accompanying Guide for Teachers and Families are available in English, Spanish, and Chinese.
