Dr. Brenneman joined the CfA as a postdoctoral fellow in 2009, became a staff scientist in 2014, and was appointed Deputy Associate Director of the High Energy Astrophysics Division in January 2021 and began serving as Acting Associate Director in October 2022. Prior to joining the CfA, Dr. Brenneman was a postdoc at NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center.

 

Research Interests

– Constraining black hole spin on all mass scales.
– The relationship between accretion and outflows in compact objects.
– Angular momentum and energy transport in AGN and their role in galaxy evolution.
– Complex absorption from outflows in AGN and their influence on the structure and geometry of the nucleus.
– Probing gravitation in the strong-field limit.
