Leigh has taught at both the undergraduate at graduate levels, focusing on global reproductive health. 

Her teaching interests include: sexual and reproductive health and rights, gender and health, population health metrics, social determinants of health, the quantification of health, global health and development, Reproductive Justice, survey research design, qualitative methods, and mixed research methods.  

In 2016, she was awarded a Certificate of Distinction in Teaching by the Derek Bok Center for Teaching and Learning at Harvard University.
