Lena Shi is a fourth year doctoral candidate in the Harvard Graduate School of Education and Harvard Graduate School of Arts & Sciences. Her research focuses on identifying contributors to and solutions for higher education inequality, especially as they relate to public finance, school quality, diversity & inclusion, and college admissions.

Before starting her PhD, Lena worked as a White House Policy Advisor on issues including college affordability, choice, and quality. She also conducted education research as a Presidential Management Fellow at the U.S. Department of Education.

Lena graduated from the University of Virginia with a BA/MPP.
