marwan
Marwan (he/him) is a recent medical graduate with previous training in experimental evolutionary microbiology. Marwan is interested in multidisciplinary approaches to infectious disease research. He has a particular research interest in the evolution of pathogens from their nonpathogenic ancestors, and determinants of virulence and transmissibility in bacterial pathogenesis. Marwan is also interested in clinical and translational research, and he is particularly interested in diagnostic challenges and unconventional patient presentations in infectious diseases, as well as the implementation of pathogen genomics in public health. His work in the Farhat lab is focused on (1) the genetic determinants of extra-pulmonary TB and (2) creating a baseline pulmonary TB disease classification tool. In the future, he intends to pursue his residency training in internal medicine, followed by specialization in infectious diseases and clinical microbiology.
