Current Position: applied math major at University of Minnesota.

Monica is a mathematical biology major specializing in genomics with minors in statistics and computer science at the University of Minnesota. This summer, Monica is combining her interest in statistical genetics and microbiome analysis to better understand how the opportunistic pathogen Mycobacterium abscessus evolves over time within the course of one human infection. She is interested in using computational methods to enhance the understanding of pathogenic diseases and to improve clinical approaches.
