Melissa Barber is a second-year doctoral student in Population Health Sciences in the Department of Global Health and Population. Her research interests include health economics, global health governance, and the political economy of the biomedical innovation system and its impacts on health.

Melissa received her A.B. degree in Social Studies from Harvard University and MPhil in Development Studies from the University of Cambridge. Prior to beginning her doctoral studies, she worked in policy and advocacy roles supporting universal access to medicines with the Médecins Sans Frontières Access Campaign, the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria, the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI), and as a researcher on projects commissioned by the WHO and the Addressing the Challenge and Constraints of Insulin Sources and Supply (ACCISS) study.
