Mareike Kleine is an Assistant Professor (University Lecturer) for EU Politics at the London School of Economics and a former John F. Kennedy Memorial Fellow at the Minda de Gunzburg Center for European Studies at Harvard University. She is currently working on a book manuscript on informal governance in the European Union and a project on political judgment and flexibility in international organizations. Her research interests include theories of international cooperation and International Political Economy, informal and formal governance, the interplay of domestic politics and international institutions, normative questions of global governance, and qualitative methods. She has published various scholarly and policy articles on these topics.
Before joining LSE, Mareike was a visiting PhD student at Princeton University, a doctoral research associate at Freie Universität Berlin, and a research assistant at the Institut für Europäische Politik. She completed her PhD at Freie Universität Berlin (2009). Her doctoral thesis won her among other prizes the APSA Ernst B. Haas Best Dissertation Award.
