Miriam Kamil earned her PhD in Classical Philology from Harvard University in May 2022. Her dissertation, under the guidance of Professor Richard F. Thomas, was entitled "Personification and Emotion in Ovid's Metamorphoses." Her research interests include Roman poetry, especially epic and elegy, textual transmission, and the study of emotions across cultures. She also works on classical reception, studying historical uses of classics to empower or disempower marginalized groups, especially the queer community. In her free time, she leads book groups reading classical texts with combat veterans.
