I am currently a Departmental Fellow at the Systems Biology Department at Harvard Medical School, working on the self-organization of the bacterial cell. My research interest is to understand how proteins, which are much smaller than the cell, are able to organize intracellular space. For this aim, I am using in vitro reconstitution approaches combined with quantitive analysis.

In January 2015, I will start my own lab at IST Austria, a new interdisciplinary research institute just outside of Vienna. Students interested in doing a PhD are invited to apply to the IST Austria graduate school. The application deadline is January 15. Interested PhD and Postdoc applicants are also welcome to contact me directly at martin_loose@hms.harvard.edu.
