Hello and Welcome!

Thank you for visiting Mr. Moazzam A. Khan’s Harvard Scholar Page. Please forward all inquiries to his email address: moazzamkhan@alumni.harvard.edu

Moazzam "Moaz" Khan is an alumnus of Harvard University where he completed his graduate studies with the distinction of Highest Honors. He is a current professional student, researcher, and scholar that has held positions at some of the world’s most prestigious institutions including Harvard Medical School’s hospitals and laboratories. As an aspiring scientist and physician, Moazzam’s research and academic interests span a broad range of concentrations, most notably within neurobiological, neuropsychiatric, and the medical sciences. Most recently, Moazzam was involved in pivotal research at the Neurotranslational lab of Harvard Medical School. He investigated the role of novel CS-6 cluster microenvironments and their relative effects (i.e., morphological modifications, CSPGs expressions, synaptic activations, and plasticity) in fear conditioning paradigms of the brain—notably, the amygdala, hippocampus, and auditory cortex.

Preceding this, Moazzam was analyzing the role of the homeoprotein transcription factor orthodenticle homeobox, OTX2, and how altered levels and dysregulation of this protein was potentially linked to the pathophysiology of schizophrenia. Moazzam's other research and medical experiences include, radiology/neuroradiology studies, gastrointestinal and pharmacological research, cardiology studies, biomedical product development and cancer therapy research. Moazzam has worked alongside IRB and other regulatory departments in establishing, finalizing, and approving numerous medical studies.

In addition to being immersed in the medical sciences, Moazzam is profoundly passionate in engaging within underserved areas. His involvements include fostering care for the elderly and mentally ill, global health and social equity development projects, mentoring and tutoring impoverished populations, Alzheimer's and neurodegenerative research/awareness, and homelessness and community rebuilding endeavors. Moazzam has spearheaded various initiatives, served in many leadership capacities, and founded healthcare organizations, some of which have received Community Service Awards and prestigious Presidential Honors from the United States White House. Moazzam has delivered lectures and presentations at various institutions, speaking on topics ranging from medical research to the stigmatization surrounding mental health and illnesses to the opioid crisis.

Moazzam's hobbies include playing basketball, exploring new cities and trying new foods, keeping current with his Chicago sports teams, and excelling in his fitness. His aspirations are to continue his medical education and expand the outreach of medicine in an effort to propel the healthcare field. He is deeply passionate about furthering research endeavors and believes that groundbreaking research and continuing innovations, therapies, and inquiry will enable monumental advancements in medicine.
