About the Conference
We would like to welcome you to the inaugral Harvard-Pfizer conference Mathematical Modeling and Healthcare Applications (co-sponsored by ISoP) to be held Monday November 13th, 2017 from 9am to 6pm at Pfizer, 610 Main Street, Cambridge, MA 02139.
This day is an opportunity for mathematical modelers to engage together with members of Boston-area scientific, clinical, and pharmaceutical industry communities. Researchers from academia (Harvard, McGill, MIT), the pharmaceutical and biotech industry (AstraZeneca, Evidera, Merck, Merrimack, Mitra, Novartis, Pfizer, Vertex, etc.), and the clinic (Brigham Women's Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital), and others will share their vision for the role of applied mathematics and systems pharmacology in drug discovery, drug development, and therapy optimization. Relevant methodologies and tools (including PBPK, PDM, QSP, PD/PK, systems modeling, pharmacometrics, computational structural biology, bioinformatics, pharmacoeconomics, and data analysis/processing approaches) will be discussed in the context of cardiovascular, metabolic and neurological disorders, cancer and immunology, and infectious diseases. This is an opportunity to learn about the range and impact of mathematical modeling approaches in drug development, safety and efficacy studies (including small and large molecule development), and translation from basic/preclinical science to the clinic. The conference will include plenary talks, research presentations, and an early-career poster session from which three posters will be awarded a top poster award. The latest program is available here.
Keynote and plenary addresses will be given by Dr CJ Musante, Head of the Quantitative Systems Pharmacology Lab, Internal Medicine Research Unit, Worldwide Research and Development, Pfizer Inc and Professor Emeritus Michael Mackey, Joseph Morley Drake Chair in Physiology, Director of the Centre for Applied Mathematics in Bioscience and Medicine from 2009-2011, Department of Physiology, McGill University.
This one-day conference is a unique opportunity for undergraduate/graduate students, postdocs, and early-career scientists to establish and expand their scientific networks, and for researchers in academia, healthcare professionals, and pharmaceutical industry scientists to forge new scientific collaborations within the Boston-area healthcare and mathematical modeling communities.
We look forward to meeting you on the day!
