Patrick Moynihan is a Preceptor in the Department of Government and the Assistant Director of the Program on Survey Research at the Institute for Quantitative Social Science. He received his doctoral degree in sociology from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, studying the distribution of public knowledge about HIV/AIDS in the United States. After spending two years in the National Institute of Mental Health post-doctoral program at Rutgers University, he joined the faculty at Fordham University where he taught a variety of substantive and methodological courses while researching emergency mental health service delivery in New York City. In 2007, he joined the Polling Unit at ABC News, covering the beat of public opinion for the network including the 2008 presidential election. He's published articles on topics ranging from public opinion to health care access in journals such as Political Behavior, the American Journal of Public Health, Community Mental Health Journal  and Teaching Sociology, and has served on the executive council of the New York Chapter of the American Association for Public Opinion Research.
